The tournament joins the American and Aussie Opens in implementing video review technology.
Replay technology are set to arrive at The Championships this year.
Players will gain the ability to contest certain rulings made by the official, following the practice currently in place at each of the American Grand Slam and the Aussie major.
The new system is slated for use on the main stadium and the number one court for the duration of the tournament and on the other four show courts when they are hosting singles matches.
This move follows just a season following the All England Club introduced ELC, which terminated the centuries-old role of line officials.
Reviewable Decisions
Competitors will not be permitted to dispute the call of the electronic line calling, but are allowed to request the umpire to review other decisions, such as:
- Whether a ball has bounced twice.
- If a ball touched an rival's racket or person during play.
- Possible hindrance at the conclusion of a point.
Importantly, there is an unlimited number on the amount of reviews a player can ask for.
A Recent Example
A recent example took place in a recent tournament recently, where Daniil Medvedev initiated the review system against his opponent.
The British player conceded it was a tough call for the official, but believed his rival had "played the rules effectively."
The umpire watched a video and ruled Draper was guilty of interference, awarding the rally to his opponent.
Broader Adoption
Video reviews are not exclusive to major tournaments. The system has been in use at the American major since 2023 and the Aussie Open since 2025.
Additionally, it is increasingly prevalent on the WTA circuit, and by next season the men's ATP Tour plans to have video reviews implemented at every one of its events.
Other Changes
A further change at Wimbledon 2025 involves the introduction of visual indicators on scoreboards to support the verbal announcements from the electronic line calling system.
This addresses situations where fans have sometimes been unsure if a shot was out or in.
Finally, with exactly a century of days to go until the beginning of the tournament, organizers have also announced an increase in daily capacity at the qualifiers in the qualifying venue.
